I for one have always wished that my Gamerscore could be turned into something a little more tangible than that small feeling of satisfaction you get when you earn a new achievement.
Now it seems my wish might finally be granted. Starting this fall, Microsoft will be giving gamers a way to earn rewards based on their achievements.
There are no details at this point, but the likeliest scenarios are; we’ll be able to earn Microsoft points for reaching certain Gamerscore milestones, such as 1000/1000ing a game; or that when we unlock and achievement and increase our Gamerscore, we’ll be awarded the equivalent in MS points (e.g. a 50g achievement earns 50 MS points).
If the latter is the case, I feel sorry for all the gamers who have spent hours unlocking every last achievement. Who knows, maybe Microsoft will be very generous and award everyone their Gamerscore in MS points when this new feature launches. I hope so, since then I’d have about enough to tide me over until the Xbox 720.
