Resident Evil 6 Update

Some debate the series died when survival horror did – well, welcome the revival; Resident evil 6 promises to bring back the elements of survival horror that pulled in so many fans for well over a decade, but also combine the blood-pumping action side, which has only been introduced in the recent years with Resident evil 5. That’s right, on October 2nd 2012 we’ll all be ready to combat “a new kind of evil” entirely.

And a “new kind of evil” is too right as a slogan, it’s been revealed that Resident evil 6 will feature an entirely new kind of viral strain – referred to as the C-Virus, which creates not only the traditional army of slow moving zombies, but a much more intelligent race that, can be assumed from the trailer, spawns within some kind of cocoon, but also has the ability to do things, never seen or even thought about during the previous entries in the series. The creatures, known as J’avo, are rumoured to have the ability to understand basic language, as well as being able to heal themselves, run, jump, and use weaponry – similar to the Granados in Resident evil 4, Here’s hoping they hold back on the chainsaws this time…But does this mean we’ve gained back our old not-so-trustworthy Umbrella corporation, or is this another one time offer company, similar to the Los illuminados featured in Resident evil 4 or Tricell featured in Resident evil 5 – this is one of many questions left un-answered that are going to have to be painstakingly awaited by millions of fans.

Although, it’s almost definite that Resident evil fans, new school or old school, won’t be disappointed – the game itself has over 600 employees working on it, and with a forwarded release, is it any surprise? It’s shockingly unusual for a game to be released on-time, let alone a whole month early, it’s rumoured the game release date was changed to increase more purchases before and during the Christmas period, although Capcom have said that it’s entirely for the fans who grow impatient for its greatly anticipated release.

So what exactly are we looking forward to?  The game, set in 2013, is split into three separate campaigns, with three separate heroes, in three separate destinations – Leon.S.Kennedy, who will be combating the new virus in an American town, known as tall-oaks, with a mysterious woman, who has yet to be identified; it’s been assumed she may be “the woman in red” or Ada Wong, who he featured with in both Resident evil 4 and Resident evil 2 but it’s not been confirmed who exactly it is. The next character; Jake Muller, the son of Wesker – who has apparently inherited his fathers infected blood-type, meaning he’s basically superhuman, and is aided by Sherry Birkin, who hasn’t been seen in resident evil since Resident evil 2, when she was only eight years old and extremely timid, 18 years later? We hope she’s gained some confidence, and can assume she has done – as she’s now referred to as Agent Birkin, The two of them will be fighting in Edonia and we can expect an amazing storyline from these two – just from the fact they’re both born from Umbrella families and hold infected blood. The final storyline, features Chris Redfield – a longtime veteran in the Resident evil series, featured since the word “go”, who will be fighting in Lansiang; a  fictitious Chinese town, although he remains a mercenary and we can presume he’ll be keeping the action side of Resident evil, alive and kicking. The entire game is supposedly, going to take just over 10 hours to complete, which means fans are really going to be pushing sunlight to finish this in one sitting…

Although, it’s not just the rumoured game-play that’s been hitting the news recently, yesterday Capcom released pictures of the Resident evil 6: Premium edition, limited edition promo items – Four “pill case” covers; as in the game itself, the classic form of medication, herbs, is being replaced with pre-packed pills, and A replica of Leon. S. Kennedy’s jacket – it all seems too perfect, until many fans saw the price – 105,000 yen, which converts to roughly £817, making it the most expensive premium release we’ve ever seen, not only is the pricing way out of reach for most of us, even the ones primping and saving, the product itself is only available in Japan – un-shockingly, meaning the Jacket itself comes in super-small Japan sizes, that won’t even fit those of us below average weight – which is enough to put off even the hard-core collectors. But what is in reach for the majority of us? Well…Pre-ordering with various websites, grants the gamer mercenaries mode map, which is different depending on which website you chose to pre-order with, but if you pre-order with e-Capcom, you get one of those marvellous “pill case”covers, I mentioned with the premium edition – which soon enough will become a collector’s item, just like other limited edition products previously given to those who pre-order.

And of course, if the wait is too agonising for those super fans, Capcom will be releasing a demo on PSN and XBOX live, for free, on September the 5th, just a month before the games actual release – but if that’s still too long of a wait for you – they’ll be including a trial with the game Dragons Dogma, 60 days before the regular trial release and 90 days before the game release, on July the 3rd.

With the fan anticipation building every day, with further news being released – the fan base for Resident evil 6 is certainly as big, if not bigger than the game itself, and it begs the question, are you ready for October 2nd? I am.

Comments:

I can not wait for this game, if they can truly blend the fantastic combat from RE5 with its traditional survival horror it will be the best in the series! I’m canceling any and all obligations on October 2nd to play this game, anybody with me on that?

I can’t wait to get close and personal with the back of Leon Kennedy again…

Chris Redfield is the Resident Evil master! Done.

woooo comments, i would chip in but i dont know anything about resident evil….

Veronica X was the BEST game of the whole series. 5 was an absolute flop.. awful continuation of the story.

You can probably get Veronica X on a PS2 ROM somewhere!
