PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale

It spent a lot of time rolling around the rumour mill, then was all about announced, well now it finally has been. For reals. Much can be said of the upcoming title Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, at best; a coming together of all of the Playstation’s most iconic characters in a single action packed title, at worst; a blatant rip off of Nintendo’s highly successful Super Smash Bros. series.

However, ripoff or not, that doesn’t factor into this being a good game or not, and based on early opinions, a good game is precisely what it is shaping up to be. These brawler type games have been popping up for a while, and based around various franchises, TMNT and Digimon for example, but Playstation are throwing a lot of weight behind this title and it certainly shows.

The early roster is promising thus far including:

PaRappa the Rapper,

Fat Princess,

Sweet tooth (of Twisted Metal fame),

Kratos (God of War),

Sly Cooper

and Colonel Radec (Killzone).

While no others have been announced I wouldn’t be surprised to see characters like Ratchet and Clank on there or maybe even Solid Snake, despite jumping ship to Nintendo for Brawl.

This is announced on the heels of further announcements about the Wii-U and 3DS sequel to Smash Bros. Brawl. While I don’t foresee the games being any sort of direct competition with one another I do see the comparisons being made between the two. We’ll keep updating as more information comes to light.
