Minecraft – Hunger Games

Minecraft is still played today because of creativity factor. I’m not on about the infinite worlds or even the never ending updates. What makes Minecraft stand out the most is the community. They create, share and play maps together. Spreading news about mods, maps and other things.

The newest sensation that’s flooded through the Minecraft Forums is Hunger Games. Its gotten so big already that  Machinima hosted a game for there YouTube directors. This shows the potential the Minecraft community has and how big there ideas can become. Now about the map itself!

The Hunger Games map is loosely based off the map. Its not one of these block to block scale models or even an attempt at recreating what they saw on screen. Instead they’ve given there own perspective and it works extremely well. They’ve managed to balance the game quite well as you can be ambushed at any time. Its hard to stop your heart from beating too hard and you hope that they can’t hear it.Spread throughout the map are traps, secrets and ruins. Each rewarding and deadly. However they can also mean the difference between survival and death. Once you’ve got some decent armor and a good sword your in for a chance, unless your food bars low. Like the movie it can be very hard to keep your food bar full.

Rules:

The mojority of servers use these rules:

• Only break leaves and mushrooms
• Cant place blocks
• No leaving glass ‘bubble’
• No items before game start

As you can see the rules are pretty open, leaving you with a lot of option on how to survive. Here’s a few tips to help you survive. My first tip would be to always go for chests at the start. As no would should have a sword your pretty safe and if you see danger your okay to run. Next there’s a large tower next to spawn. I recommend going in the opposite direction. Keep going until you reach a very suspicous lever on a large rectangle of sand. Press the lever and the sand will fall. You will lose 1 or 2 hearts but its worth it! Press the second lever, open the chest, take the sword and look up for water. You’ll have to be very quick. If you survive though you get an iron sword with Fire Aspect I. That’s right, now go back to spawn and kick ass!
