Sony are well and truly trying to annoy Nintendo as much as possible it seems. With their decision to take inspiration from Super Smash Bros and announce their own version titled: PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale which will hit the shelves sometime this year (Release date TBA). Do PlayStation users want a game that is so similar to Nintendo it makes you wince a little? I don’t know how to describe PASBR other than “It’s Smash Bros. with PlayStation characters of which include Parappa the Rapper, Radec, Fat Princess, Sweet Tooth and Sly.” Check out the game below
What is concerning is that Omar Kendall talks about PASBR like it’s a completely new and original concept. I’m well aware that people don’t play Nintendo because it’s gimmicky and that’s fine. But when PlayStation more or less copies a gimmick, people can’t praise it enough.
I’m sure many of PlayStation fans will answer “but this is our own version, with characters we love. It is not our fault that Nintendo are struggling in an industry that is ever evolving”. But it just seems, not wrong, but odd that Sony have shamelessly copied Nintendo in this way. Couldn’t Sony, with all it’s billions, take inspiration to a different level and put their own spin on it so that it is similar but not entirely the same thing or am I just a bitter fangirl?
Sony have also announced that they will be releasing Little Big Planet Karting this year, with vast similarities including weaponry boxes.” LittleBigPlanet Karting doesn’t divorce itself entirely from Mario Karting; the game still features drifting, boosting, and a collection of weapons remarkably similar to those wielded by members of The Mushroom Kingdom.” People are also speculating that, with LBPK allowing gamers to modify weapons completely and even create your own, LBPK is giving gamers a karting game “Nintendo failed to give”. Really? I think it’s a great move on Sony’s part to be able to modify aspects of the game on a huge scale, but don’t knock Nintendo because they’ve stuck to a concept for twenty years and found it to have worked. Check out the trailer for LBPK:
Is it warranted that Nintendo fans are up in arms about Sony’s moves to copy? Does competition incite creativity? Or is it just a recipe for disaster? Coca-Cola and Pepsi manage fine, so why can’t Nintendo fans accept that this is how business works and it’s not a direct “F-you, Nintendo” It’s just business, nothing personal.

Noooooooooooo!!!!!!!
It was working ten minutes ago! Let me find one that isn’t broken because it adds to the article.
Right that’s sorted, thanks for letting me know Richard!
Theres quite a few games that match heroes and villains from multiple sources against one another and LBP karting is most likely Mm ripping off modnation not mario kart. I think it’s just that Nintendo is big that people see it that way.
Sony is not shameless, they are simply doing what everyone else is doing with their own property.
