ArenaNet opened up Guild Wars 2 pre-purchasing earlier this month, and anyone who pre-purchased will be getting their first beta opportunity to experience the game.
One of the biggest perks for pre-purchasing the game is access to all upcoming beta weekend events, and the first weekend will be taking place this April 27 through April 29. We know many of you have been waiting a long time to try Guild Wars 2.
Let’s take a look at all the cool stuff you’ll be doing during the Beta Weekend Event.
During the beta, you’ll be able to make multiple characters. You can choose from three of the full game’s five races (Charr, Human, Norn) and eight professions. The reason they’ve probably restricted your selection of races is that each one has their own distinct starting area.
Once you’ve gotten a handle on your profession’s abilities, you can battle other players. In the game’s four World Vs. World maps, three teams of hundreds of players will go to war with each other. Smaller PvP matches are also available for players who want a quicker battle.
For the first time ever, they are opening the metropolis of Lion’s Arch to beta players. Wander the streets of this cosmopolitan trade hub, chat with traders and travelers from every corner of Tyria, hop through one of the many asura gates to points beyond, or discover the famed diving platform at Diverse Ledges. Lion’s Arch is a city like no other!”

The beta kicks off at noon PDT on the 27th and concludes at 11:59pm PDT on the 29th. Guild Wars 2 is scheduled to launch by the end of 2012. No specific dates have been announced yet.
