The developers of beloved JRPG series Shin Megami Tensei: Persona are finally starting work on the newest Persona game. In the four years since the release of Persona 4, we’ve gotten ‘rereleases’, fighting game spin-offs, and an anime series. The fans are ready.
The announcement came from this week’s issue of Famitsu, and thanks to a translation from Andriasaang, Atlus executive Katsura Hashino said that illustrations have been submitted and his team is focused on Persona 5′s development. There is no announcement of which platform it’ll be on or when it’s expected release will be.
In addition, Hashino also said in the issue that he is working on a collaborative project that will “surprise everyone”, but the announcement will come at a much later date.
For those of you who are new to the SMT: Persona series, you can pick up Persona 1, 2, and 3 for the PSP in the PSN and Persona 4: The Golden will be released on October 30th for the Playstation Vita. There’s also the new fighter Persona 4 Arena that features the cast of Persona 3 and Persona 4 that was just released yesterday.
So Persona fans, are you just as excited as I am for this? I know I am!
